Success started to mean something different
Before real estate, I built and led a national sales and training program for a California-based company. I hired people, developed teams, worked with distributors and logistics, and spent a lot of my life on the road.
I liked the work. I wasn’t happy. To go further I’d have had to move my family across the country, and I was already missing too much of my kids growing up.
So I made a change. I became a real estate agent. It let me build my own business and be home. I coached my kids’ sports and was there for the things I’d have missed from a hotel room.
That decision changed how I think about business. Success isn’t only what you make. It’s also the life your business lets you live.
The question that started it
When I got into real estate, I joined a coaching program. It was a good program. I learned a lot and met great people. This was before 12 Month CEO existed.
After a year or two, I wanted to push further on goal setting and accountability. I asked my coach if I could teach a session on it, and she gave me one of her Monday calls.
I built my own advanced accountability program with a partner and presented it. 285 people were on the call. 241 signed up. Three months later, about 15 were still with me.
That drop was on my program, and I couldn’t stop asking why.
Accountability needed something underneath it
My program asked agents, “Did you do what you said?” That question works when there’s a plan behind it. Mine didn’t give them one.
How do you hold hundreds of agents accountable when every one of them runs a different business? One wants to double production. One wants to hire an assistant. One wants to build a team. One is doing plenty of deals and working 60 hours a week to do it. Every one of those businesses grows only as far as the owner’s hours go.
What I came to believe was this: you can’t hold someone accountable to a plan they don’t have. I believe they needed a framework first. One that fits their business, connects their goals to their strategies, turns those strategies into work, and shows them whether it’s working.
Then the question becomes a CEO’s question. Are you building the business you said you wanted? Is your strategy working? Is your time going to the right things? What decision comes next?
That was the beginning of 12 Month CEO.
Why a framework, not another program
Our industry has excellent coaches, good CRMs, and more training than anyone could use. Much of it is valuable. Keep it.
What I kept seeing was agents with all the pieces and no single way to run the business. Their businesses ran on their own memory, reactions and effort. They knew they should prospect, know their numbers and build systems. Knowing that and running a business that does it every week are two different things.
A tracker without a plan is a place to type numbers. A calendar without priorities is a list of appointments. The work was connecting the pieces into one operating framework: know where the business stands, decide what you’re building, choose the strategies, put the work in motion, measure it, and decide what’s next. Every week, not once a year.
What I want for the agents who join

I want an agent to reach the point where someone asks about their business and they know the answers. Their numbers. Where the business is growing and where it’s stuck. Which strategies they’re running and whether they’re working. Where their time goes.
That’s the move from an agent who produces transactions to the CEO of the business. From there the real decisions open up: what to focus on, what to stop, where to invest, when to hire, what can run without you.
And I want that business to support the life you want. Time with your kids. A vacation where nothing falls apart. Whatever it is for you. Not because you stopped working hard, but because the business no longer needs you to carry every piece of it.
What I’m not
I’m not a real estate guru. I don’t have all the answers, and I’m not promising that joining 12 Month CEO makes anyone successful. Building a business takes commitment, consistent work and hard decisions. 12 Month CEO is new, and I won’t show results until they’re real.
If you want leads handed to you, a shortcut, or a course to watch, this isn’t for you. It’s for agents who already have real production, a business that has outgrown running on their own effort, and the willingness to do the work every week.
I do believe there’s a better way to do that work. That’s what I’ve spent years building.
